Zone D Lions for the District
The Lions Message In a Bottle scheme is a simple idea designed to encourage people to keep their personal and medical details on a standard form and in a common location - the Fridge. This scheme is free to the user. Whilst it is focused on the more vulnerable people in our community, anyone can have an accident, so this scheme can benefit anyone, including you. As a minimum it will save the Emergency Services valuable time identifying you and your emergency contacts. By telling whether you have special medication or allergies or not, it is a potential lifesaver and provides peace of mind to users and their friends and families.
Lions Club have introduced a free card to hold all your medical information.
The credit card sized concertina card which, when kept inside your wallet or handbag, provides a contact name and other essential information to the Emergency Services about illnesses, and allergies etc. from which you may suffer.
The card which is being called 'Message In a Wallet' is to help hospitals immediately have your correct information, especially in situation where you could be unresponsive.
District Youth Celebration- for the disadvantaged and handicapped children
Every year Lions and Leos of our district organise a trip for disadvantaged children to attend the District Youth Celebration. Some 300 excited children and carers have a fantastic day out at Elstree
The children come from varied backgrounds such as the Women’s Refuge, family with drug or alcohol related issues, children on the autistic spectrum or those who had suffered a bereavement. They all enjoy face painting, dancing, entertainment and delicious food. It is a great day out and thoroughly satisfying to see happy children.
This year's youth celebration is on the 27th of November

Senior Citizens Party- for the elderly
Assisting our district to organise and host guests at the District 105A Senior Citizens Party; this is an annual event held at Harrow Leisure Centre where an afternoon tea and entertainment is provided for approximately 900 Senior Citizens who live in the areas supported by the Lions Clubs of our District. Our Lions Clubs sponsor a table of 10 for the benefit and pleasure of senior citizens on the day with plenty of food entertainment and music.
A signature event for our autonomous clubs “Charter” is the date when a Lions Club is formed and is celebrated on each anniversary. In our zone, our clubs combine this evening with our “Handover” which is when our new president is inducted and again, this happens on a yearly basis.
This is an evening of celebration and reflection of the club’s activities during the preceding year. It also gives our outgoing president the opportunity to acknowledge and reward some of the members for their endeavours.
